Agrarians of six districts of the Novosibirsk region have started harvesting fodder. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Agriculture of the Novosibirsk Region Yevgeny Leshchenko during an operational meeting chaired by the Governor of the Novosibirsk Region Andrey Travnikov.
“For the needs of animal husbandry, the farmers of the region will have to prepare this year 348 thousand tons of hay, 1 million 30 thousand tons of haylage and 603 thousand tons of silage. This will amount to 34 centners of feed units per conventional HEAD of livestock. Taking into account the carry-overs of last year, the feed supply in 2022 will be more than 41 centners of feed units per conditional head,” said Yevgeny Leshchenko.
595 forage harvesters will be involved in forage harvesting. Some of them are modern high-performance machines purchased in recent years with the help of regional state support.
“Over the past week, 112 million rubles of state support funds were transferred from the regional and federal budgets. In total, since the beginning of the year, more than 3 billion rubles have already been sent to recipients as part of the programs supervised by the ministry to support agricultural production and rural development.”
In addition, according to the minister, the volume of preferential credit resources attracted by the agrarians of the region for seasonal work in 2022 exceeded 6.5 billion rubles by mid-June. On preferential terms, subsidized by the state - at a rate of up to 5% per annum - 217 loan agreements were concluded.
Earlier, Evgeny Leshchenko reported that for the Novosibirsk region six times, including already in May, the limits for preferential lending to farmers were increased. “Thus, since the beginning of the year, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture has already allocated 699 million rubles to subsidize the interest rate for borrowers from the Novosibirsk Region. This allowed our farms to attract on preferential terms the necessary amount of funds for seasonal field work.”
During the meeting, the minister also noted that the industry’s total financial need for fodder procurement, the organization of a green conveyor, fallow treatment and chemical weeding in 2022 will amount to about 7 billion rubles.
The Ministry of Agriculture of the region, due to the difficult weather conditions of the beginning of summer, which affected the state of forage crops in a number of areas, keeps the process of fodder harvesting under special control. Thus, together with the scientific community, recommendations were developed and communicated to the heads of farms on optimizing forage harvesting in 2022, including: additional sowing in the second half of June of grain forage crops (oats and peas, Sudanese grass) for hay and haylage, harvesting oat straw and barley in rolls during harvesting, sowing rapeseed for green fodder in September-October to save on harvested fodder, etc.
The heads of farms that are at risk of not fulfilling their plans for forage harvesting are recommended to conclude agreements of intent to purchase the missing volume with farms that have the opportunity to procure additional volumes of hay and haylage for sale.
