Spring arrived very early this year, so Kuzbass farmers began fieldwork 10-14 days earlier than usual. According to preliminary data, the total sown area will exceed 900,600 hectares.
"Agriculture is a promising sector for Kuzbass; we see it as a growth area for the Kuzbass economy. In 2022, agriculture contributed 3 billion rubles in tax revenue to the regional budget, and almost 5 billion rubles last year. We must focus not only on growing raw materials but also on producing high-margin products. Processing is essential to increase the added value of our products. This will significantly increase our farmers' incomes , and consequently, their contributions to the regional budget," emphasized Kuzbass Governor Ilya Seredyuk.
Agricultural work is currently underway to conserve moisture reserves. Moisture conservation has already been completed on an area of 67,100 hectares (the planned target is 659,000 hectares). The largest area has been processed in the Promyshlennovsky, Leninsk-Kuznetsky, and Krapivinsky municipal districts.
This year, spring grain and leguminous crops will occupy 530,100 hectares, while oilseeds will occupy 230,600 hectares. The area planted with potatoes and open-ground vegetables will amount to 7,800 hectares, and forage crops will occupy 132,100 hectares. The largest areas of spring sowing are concentrated in three agricultural municipalities of Kuzbass: Promyshlennovsky District - 122,600 hectares, Leninsk-Kuznetsky District - 110,400 hectares, and Topkinsky District - 77,400 hectares.
More cold-resistant crops, whose seedlings can withstand frost, are sown first:Peas , cereal grains, and carrots are next. Wheat, rapeseed, oilseed flax, and onions are then sown, followed by potato and cabbage seedling planting. Heat-loving crops such as buckwheat, soybeans, beets, and corn are planted last. Farmers are adhering to long-term average planting dates; adjustments will be made to the schedule if weather conditions change.
The seed supply for grain and legume crops is 113.5%, oilseeds 157%, potatoes 98.6%, and open-field vegetable crops 65.2%. The remaining seed has been contracted and is already in supplier warehouses; after certification, it will be shipped to agricultural producers.
Agricultural enterprises plan to purchase 107,900 tons of mineral fertilizers this year. Farmers have already applied 363 tons of mineral fertilizers over an area of 2,800 hectares.
During the sowing campaign, 7,266 units of self-propelled equipment, trailed and mounted implements, will be used in the fields of Kuzbass, sufficient to carry out agricultural work within the optimal agronomic timeframe.
