In 2023, 27.9 thousand hectares of arable land were put into circulation. Under the regional program, Kuzbass farmers are compensated for up to 90% of the costs of putting abandoned lands into circulation.
“Russian President Vladimir Putin has set the task of ensuring the country’s food security. Therefore, putting unused agricultural land into circulation is a priority in the work of the Kuzbass government. This land should produce crops and thereby increase the region’s supply of its products. Last year, the volume of state support amounted to 50 million rubles, 25 agricultural producers received subsidies . By 2024 , municipalities need to develop at least 20 thousand hectares of agricultural land,” said Governor Sergei Tsivilev.
In general, in 2023 in Kuzbass the plan for putting into circulation was completed by 105%. it was necessary to develop at least 26.5 thousand hectares. The farmers of Prokopyevsky, Mariinsky, Promyshlennovsky, Novokuznetsk, Belovsky and Guryevsky districts exceeded the planned values.
In accordance with the program, part of the costs of restoring unused agricultural land is reimbursed, based on the rate per 1 hectare.
It should be noted that since 2018, 157 thousand hectares have been put into circulation, which is 52.3% of all unused agricultural land. This made it possible to increase the sown area for grains, legumes and industrial crops by 101 thousand hectares. Another 56 thousand hectares of land put into circulation are occupied by fallow fields, that is, free from the cultivation of main agricultural crops, but cultivated and fertilized. The presence of such lands in the crop rotation structure helps to improve soil fertility. In total, by 2030 it is planned to introduce about 150 thousand hectares more.
