Agrarians of the Irkutsk region began sowing grain crops

Agrarians of the Irkutsk region have started spring field work and sowing grain crops. This was told by the Minister of Agriculture of the region Ilya Sumarokov.
“Traditionally, the first spring field work begins in the Usolsky district, which is most favorable in terms of climatic conditions. In the farms of the district, they started harrowing perennial grasses with the simultaneous application of mineral fertilizers, work to close the moisture, and also sowed the first 60 hectares of oats and 140 hectares of barley,” the minister said.
In the Usolsky district, moisture closure was carried out on an area of ​​more than a thousand hectares, perennial grasses were harrowed on 500 hectares. 40 tons of mineral fertilizers were applied under perennial grasses. The agrarians of the Irkutsk region also started to close the moisture, 500 hectares were processed, and the Cheremkhovo region - 300 hectares.
Ilya Sumarokov recalled that in 2022 the total sown area in the region is planned to be increased by 9.1 thousand hectares, it will amount to 704.8 thousand hectares. Spring sowing will increase by 15.4 thousand hectares and will amount to 620.77 thousand hectares. It is expected to increase the area under grain and leguminous crops up to 418 thousand hectares, under oilseeds - up to 68.3 thousand hectares. In addition, it is planned to increase the sown areas for potatoes and vegetables in agricultural organizations and peasant (farm) enterprises of the region, they will amount to 3.9 thousand hectares and 1.1 thousand hectares, respectively.
