97% of winter crops in Saratov region are in good condition

CropsWinter crops of the Saratov region are in the constant focus of experts. Thus, Deputy DIRECTOR of the Federal Scientific and Technical Center of the South-East Sergey Derevyagin examined crops in the Atkarsky, Gagarinsky, Yekaterinovsky and Samoylovsky municipal districts of the region.
"In general, the condition of winter crops and plant development is assessed as good. In some fields, agricultural errors were identified that weakened the plants. For example, increasing the sowing depth from 4-5 to 7-8 cm significantly "stretches" the germination period and complicates the process of development of the secondary root system. However, on a regional scale, such agricultural errors are not widespread. In addition, the weather is favorable to farmers," he noted.
The deputy director of the scientific center also emphasized that positive average daily temperatures in the coming days will allow plants to pull up their parameters to the norm and safely go into wintering. Let us recall that 1 million 215 thousand hectares of winter grain crops (102% of the plan) have been sown for the 2024
harvest in the Saratov Region, including 1,165 thousand hectares of winter wheat and 46 thousand hectares of rye. 97% of the crops are in good condition.
