
December 24 is the date of the formation of the Iskra rural settlement of the Uryupinsk district of the Volgograd region - the once famous Iskra state farm. The village is located in the south-west of the district, 60 kilometers from Uryupinsk, the famous capital of the Russian hinterland. At the end of the 19th century, this land belonged to the merchant M. T. Shchukin, whose vast pastures were the district herd pasture.
it was on December 24, 1930 that the USSR celebrated the thirtieth anniversary of the publication of the first issue of the Leninist newspaper Iskra, after which the farm was named Iskra state farm.
The economy has developed over the years and has become one of the most advanced in the region. For high performance, the state farm was awarded the Red Banner of the regional party committee and the regional executive committee for eternal storage. Many machine operators, livestock breeders, drivers, specialists and managers were awarded orders and medals. There were also Heroes of Socialist Labor in the farm.
