Ukraine is imposing new sanctions against those involved in or helping RUSSIA to fight, President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an evening address posted on his TELEGRAM channel.

According to him, the decrees are based on the decisions of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine. Sanctions are being imposed against those involved "in the kidnapping of Ukrainian children", and those "who help keep mercenary structures in Russia", as well as athletes "who are trying to put sport at the service of aggression."

Who exactly fell under the restrictions, Zelensky did not specify, the decrees were not posted on his website at the time of publication of the material.

Ukraine, like Western countries, regularly imposes sanctions against Russia. There are several thousand people among the individuals who are under Ukrainian sanctions. Among them are President Vladimir Putin , ministers Sergei Lavrov, Sergei Shoigu and others, Patriarch Kirill, businessmen Roman Abramovich, Mikhail Prokhorov and others, artists Lev Leshchenko, Nikolai Baskov, Olga Buzova and others.

In addition, Kyiv imposed sanctions against Russian companies and entire industries. In early February, the state corporation Rosatom and its subsidiaries, some of which are related to the nuclear industry or high technologies, fell under restrictions, in total - 200 companies. One of them is the Zaporizhzhya NPP, a state-owned enterprise created on behalf of Putin, which is currently under Russian control.

Moscow considers the sanctions imposed against Russia and its citizens illegitimate.
