The seat occupancy of the Pobeda low-cost airline increased from 93.8% to 95.3% in the second quarter of 2022, the Aeroflot group said in a statement received by RBC. The last time the company reached this level was in July and August 2021, the press service of Pobeda specified.
Aircraft seat occupancy is one of the key performance indicators for air carriers. For the Aeroflot group itself, it increased from 78.1 to 83.7%, and for the airline of the same name - from 72 to 80.7%.
In April-June 2022, Pobeda transported 2.459 million people, which is 32.5% less than a year earlier. The passenger traffic of the entire Aeroflot group decreased less strongly - by 22.4%, to 8.68 million passengers.
The operating results of the group were affected by the current foreign policy environment and significant restrictions on flights, Aeroflot said in a statement. After the start of Russia's special operation in Ukraine, Brussels imposed a ban on the sale of aircraft, spare parts and equipment to Russian airlines. Carriers from Russia are also banned from flying to the EU and other Western countries.
After a decline in March 2022, in the second quarter, Aeroflot Group actively restored traffic indicators, the average monthly growth rate was 19.5%, according to its press service: international flights were partially restored, and the dynamics of domestic flights also improved. Passenger turnover of the Aeroflot group on domestic routes increased by 0.4%, the airline of the same name - by 23.7%.
