International reserve assets of Belarus on December 1, 2020, according to preliminary data, amounted to $7376.3 million (equivalent), having decreased in November by $109.2 million (1.5%) after growth in October by $164.2 million (2.2%), according to a press release of the NATIONAL BANK.
Since the beginning of the year the reserves have decreased by 21.5%, or by 2017.2 million dollars.
In November 2020, the government fulfilled external and domestic obligations in foreign currency of about $388 million.
Maintaining the level of gold and foreign currency reserves in November was facilitated by the National Bank's purchase of foreign currency at the auction of the Belarusian Currency and Stock Exchange, as well as the receipt of foreign currency in the budget.
According to the Basic Guidelines of the Monetary and Credit Policy for 2020, the volume of international reserve assets as of January 1, 2021, should amount to at least $7.3 billion.
