US sanctions against Russia due to a military special operation in Ukraine do not apply to cars, smartphones and household appliances made in SOUTH KOREA. This was stated by the Ministry of Commerce of the Republic of Korea, according to Yonhap agency.

The country's authorities held consultations with the US Department of Commerce regarding anti-Russian sanctions. The US authorities explained that restrictions will not apply to household appliances, cars and smartphones, since these goods are intended for the mass consumer.

The US Department of Commerce emphasized that the restrictions do not apply if the end customer is not a person associated with the defense industry.

South Korean companies will also be able to obtain special permission from US authorities to supply products to Russian subsidiaries of their enterprises.
