Japan plans to introduce additional sanctions against Russian citizens and organizations following the G7 member countries. This was stated by the country's Prime Minister Fumio Kishida at online negotiations between the group leaders, NHK TV channel reports.
The HEAD of the Japanese government also emphasized that it is now important to show solidarity with Ukraine, since the fighting has dragged on and the situation continues to remain difficult. He added that supporting Kiev will continue to be one of the main priorities in 2024 .
The day before, on February 24, on the second anniversary of the start of the military operation in Ukraine , the G7 countries held a summit of the association’s leaders, at which they decided that they would take measures aimed at reducing Russia’s income from energy exports. They promised to tighten control over compliance with the price ceiling for Russianoil and respond to limit violations, in particular, impose sanctions against those who help RUSSIA circumvent restrictions.
In addition, the United States imposed about 500 sanctions against Russia, including against the National Payment Card System (NSCP) - operator of the Mir payment system, the Aurus premium car manufacturer plant in Yelabuga, NAMI Federal State Unitary Enterprise - car developer , development group PIK, mining company Mechel, etc.
The European Union also approved the 13th package of sanctions, expanding the list of goods prohibited for EXPORT to Russia; among other things, the list was supplemented with possible parts for the development and assembly of drones. Another export restrictions were imposed on 27 organizations on charges of supporting the military-industrial complex (MIC) of Russia, some of them are located in India, CHINA, Kazakhstan, Thailand, Serbia and Sri Lanka.
