Volodin urged not to raise prices for goods, “hiding behind sanctions”

In several regions, prices for food products, medicines and diapers produced in Russia have unreasonably increased, this is unacceptable, an analysis of what is happening should be carried out, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said on Telegram.

According to him, a large number of complaints are being received about the rise in prices; food prices in a number of regions of the country have almost doubled. The speaker of the State Duma pointed out that under the sanctions, the increase in prices for some goods can be explained by problems in logistics or the volatility of the ruble exchange rate, but this should not concern goods produced in Russia.

“Artificially raising prices under the guise of sanctions is unacceptable. <...> According to available information, suppliers have the necessary stocks of goods, there is no shortage, ”Volodin wrote.

Volodin also announced a March 10 discussion of price increases at the plenary meeting of the Duma with the participation of the head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service, Maxim Shaskolsky. “We plan to conduct an analysis of the entire chain - from production to the sale of goods - in order to identify facts of unjustified price increases. It is unacceptable to profit from people, it is necessary to punish for this, ”the speaker of the State Duma threatened.
