Kyrgyz authorities began checking exports to Russia due to the threat of sanctions

Kyrgyzstan launched an investigation due to the threat of US sanctions in connection with the possible EXPORT of sanctioned goods to RUSSIA. The authorities rejected the involvement of state structures, but admitted that private companies could violate sanctions

The Kyrgyz authorities and state-owned enterprises did not violate the sanctions imposed against Russia by the United States and a number of Western countries, but private companies may be involved in this, the State Committee for National Security of the republic said, 24.kg reports. The department decided to launch an investigation into this matter.

“The State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic admits the possible involvement of private companies and firms in this, which, within the framework of their business and production activities, could be involved in violations of sanctions restrictions, possibly not knowing who the end consumer and user of the products supplied by them may actually be,” — the committee said in a statement.

Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov, in an interview with Interfax, said that there are no prerequisites for imposing sanctions due to violation of restrictions against Russia. According to him, measures have been taken in the republic to prevent the export of products in violation of sanctions.

“Due to the transparency of the passage of goods across the border, real data on exports and receipts of funds have appeared. We are working in the right direction: the tracking of goods has become transparent, so I ask businesses to take electronic invoices in order to identify undeclared cargo in case of emergency,” Zhaparov said.

The HEAD of the Kyrgyz Cabinet added that the issue of increasing exports and a possible circumvention of the sanctions imposed by Kyrgyzstan was repeatedly discussed with representatives of Western delegations.

The Washington Post (WP) reported yesterday that the United States is preparing economic measures against Kyrgyzstan due to violations of sanctions imposed on Russia. According to the publication, Washington suspects Bishkek of supplying dual-use goods to Russia, including Chinese drones.

The Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in the United States, in response to the WP publication, stated that the country's leadership complies with international rules in the fight against smuggling and other illegal trade. The diplomatic mission acknowledged cases of sanctions violations, but called for taking into account the “real economic context”: Russia and Kyrgyzstan are members of the EAEU , and more than 1 million citizens of the republic work on Russian territory.

The Ministry of Economic Commerce of Kyrgyzstan later noted that the republic has tightened control over exports, including military and dual-use goods, after the visit of US, EU and UK representatives to the republic in March-April of this year.

The Kremlin, after the publication of WP, said that Kyrgyzstan is a "close partner and ally" of Russia. “We are also united by participation in very advanced integration processes. In this case, we are talking about the EurAsEC. This is the very integration that is of great benefit to Kyrgyzstan itself, ”said Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the Russian president .
