In the first days of the New Year, in some regions of Russia there were delays in the supply of chilled poultry, including due to heavy snowfalls or frosts. RBC was informed about this by the press service of the X5 Group (owner of Pyaterochka, Chizhik, Perekrestok).
“We are doing everything possible to deliver the missing goods to stores as quickly as possible and provide our customers with everything they need,” the group of companies assured. It is expected that in the coming days the supply schedule will be restored and the situation will return to normal.
RBC’s source in another retail chain added that “there are no problems,” both the chain and the producers have chicken , and “such stories happen periodically during the holidays.”
Earlier, the media in several regions reported the disappearance of chicken from grocery stores. URA.RU wrote that residents of Yekaterinburg complained about the lack of chicken meat in the Pyaterochka, Chizhik, and Perekrestok stores. The information policy department of the Sverdlovsk region explained the empty refrigerators with meat in supermarkets in Yekaterinburg as the January holidays. “Deliveries, including to large retail chains, are carried out on schedule, and their volume is adjusted taking into account consumer activity. During the January long weekend it is traditionally lower than on other days,” the department emphasized.
The portal 74.RU reported about the disappearance of chicken from store shelves in Chelyabinsk. “Chizhik is completely empty, just like Monetka.” At Pyaterochka they found only frozen chicken heads and legs. As a result, they took the thighs from Spar,” the publication quoted a local resident. The Ministry of Agriculture of the Chelyabinsk Region assured that there is no cause for concern and no problems with the supply of chicken to the region’s retail chains.
State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company Samara also reported that there were no chicken thighs, wings and breasts on store shelves. The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Samara Region reported that, according to information received from retail chains, there were no reports of problems with the supply of chicken meat to stores; distribution centers have a supply of chicken meat for two to three days.
