UK to adopt new package of sanctions against Russia

The next sanctions will again affect the Russian financial sector. In particular,

British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss announced the introduction of a new package of anti-Russian sanctions that affect the financial sector and the EXPORT of high-tech technologies, reports The Guardian.

Sanctions that will affect the financial sector will include:

a ban on Russian banks to make non-cash payments in pounds sterling; complete freezing of the assets of three Russian banks.

All this isolates Russian companies, and 3 million of them will not be able to raise capital in London, she stressed. The UK also plans to impose sanctions on Sberbank as soon as the new sanctions law comes into force.

In addition, London will continue to impose sanctions against Russian oligarchs. Foreign Ministry officials are "working all night" to develop sanctions against individual oligarchs, Truss said. To do this, additional lawyers were hired, and the number of sanctions department tripled.
