Billionaire, founder of the Renova Group, Viktor Vekselberg, won a case against the Swiss bank PostFinance (the financial division of Swiss Post) due to the closure of his accounts. The documents say that Vekselberg, who lives in Switzerland and has been under US sanctions since April 2018, opened two accounts with PostFinance bank in the same autumn, in Swiss francs and in euros. However, in December, the bank notified the businessman of the termination of business relations and closing of accounts. In an explanation sent to Vekselberg, it was said that PostFinance conducted an analysis of his dossier, which showed "a discrepancy between the bank's strategy and the [client's] profile."

In February 2019, Vekselberg applied to the court of the canton of Bern with a demand to restore the accounts, but the court refused to satisfy his claim. After that, the businessman filed an appeal.
