According to Reuters, the American corporation has a strong presence in Norway and Sweden through its local chocolate producers Freia and Marabou. Amid the boycott, the company turned to the Norwegian government on June 11 to protect its local business .
In May, Mondelez International was included in the Ukrainian list of "international war sponsors" for continuing to work in Russia, where the company owns three plants - the Bolshevik factory, a production facility in Pokrov, and a plant in Veliky Novgorod. As Reuters was told by some of the Scandinavian companies that announced a boycott of the manufacturer of sweets, their actions were dictated by the decision of the Ukrainian side.
