A group of nine US senators have offered to provide Kiev with $450 million in military aid in 2022 and secure Russia's "sponsor of terrorism" status if it sends troops to Ukraine. This is stated in a statement published on the website of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
“As Ukraine faces yet another Russian troop buildup near the border and the threat of invasion, the United States must do everything possible to contain Russia and provide Ukraine with the supplies and support it needs to defend itself,” said Republican Senator Jim Risch, head of the committee.
The initiative is called “Guaranteeing Ukraines Autonomy by Reinforcing its Defense Act, GUARD Act”. She was supported by eight other senators, including the senior Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee, Marco Rubio, and intelligence committee vice chairman Pat Toomey.
According to Rish, he decided to present this initiative in connection with the "inaction" of the administration of US Democratic President Joe Biden.
