The Rosselkhoznadzor lifted the ban on the supply of meat from a number of Brazilian enterprises to RUSSIA. This was reported to journalists by the official representative of the Rosselkhoznadzor Yulia Melano.

“Considering the investigation materials received and the measures taken to eliminate the identified violations, the results of laboratory tests of products, as well as the guarantees provided by the Secretariat for the Protection of Plants and Animals of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply of Brazil on the conformity of the conditions for the production and sale of products, from November 1, 2018 Temporary restrictions on the supply of products from Brazilian enterprises are canceled,” the ministry said.

The attached list lists nine companies. The ban on the supply of their products to Russia is lifted on November 1.

A temporary restriction on the supply of meat from Brazil was introduced from December 1, 2017. The reason was the discovery in Brazilian products of a prohibited growth stimulator - the feed additive ractopamine.

At the time of the ban, Brazil was the largest supplier of meat to Russia. Brazilian enterprises achieved a similar position in the market in just six months of their presence in Russia: deliveries of meat products from this country began in 2013. Already in the first half of 2014, Brazil became the largest supplier of pork (all types) and cattle meat to Russia - out of a total import of 425.4 thousand tons, it accounted for 176.4 thousand tons in delivery.
