
A group of people's deputies, headed by a deputy from the Holos party, Inna Sovsun, submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a bill to ban the activities of the Russian Orthodox Church on the territory of Ukraine, as well as to seize real estate and other property of the Church, follows from the base of the lower house of parliament.
“Introduce amendments to the law of Ukraine “On Freedom of Conscience and Religious Organizations” <...> 1) Article 3 shall be supplemented with the fifth paragraph as follows: “For the protection of public safety and order, the activities of religious organizations (associations) are prohibited, directly or as components of another religious organization (association) are included in the structures (which are parts) of a religious organization (association), the leading center (management) of which is located outside of Ukraine in a state that is recognized by law as having committed military aggression against Ukraine and/or has temporarily occupied part of the territory of Ukraine, - stated in the bill.
Also, the document proposes that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, within two days from the date of publication of the law, "take the necessary measures to dispose of real estate and movable things owned, leased or on other grounds at the disposal of organizations (associations), whose activities are prohibited, according to this law."
In addition to Sovsun, the co-authors of the bill include: Natalia Pipa (“Voice”), Solomiya Bobrovskaya (“Voice”), Yaroslav Yurchyshyn (“Voice”), Kira Rudik (“Voice”), Georgy Mazurashu (“Servant of the People”) and Roman Lozinsky (non-partisan).
