Members of the foreign policy committees of Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party have called on the government to impose economic sanctions on RUSSIA if it "invades" Ukraine, Jiji news agency reports.
After the meeting, Mashahisa Sato, a member of the House of Councilors, said that government measures, including the suspension of negotiations on the issue of visa facilitation for Russians arriving in Japan after the annexation of Crimea in 2014, are "not enough", and said that it is necessary to strengthen sanctions against Russia.
What kind of new sanctions may be introduced against Russia, the agency did not specify.
