Acting Deputy DIRECTOR of the Department for Nonproliferation and Arms Control of the Russian Foreign Ministry Konstantin Vorontsov received an American visa "in exchange" for a Russian visa from US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland. This, according to RIA Novosti, was announced by Deputy Head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Sergei Ryabkov.

The Deputy Secretary of State arrived in Russia on October 11 to discuss issues of bilateral relations and strategic stability. Previously, she was on the Russian sanctions list and was denied a Russian visa. On Tuesday, Nuland visited the Russian Foreign Ministry, where she met with Ryabkov.

According to the Russian Deputy Minister, bilateral relations, visa issues and problems of functioning of the diplomatic missions of the two countries were discussed at the meeting. At the same time, Ryabkov said that it was not possible to achieve much progress at the meeting.

“I cannot say that we have made great progress. <...> It cannot be ruled out that some further aggravations are possible in these areas. What we told our American colleagues directly, ”Interfax quotes Ryabkov.
