The Kremlin announced the final preparation of Russia's response to the price ceiling

The preparation of Russia's response to the restriction on the price of Russian oil introduced by Western countries is being completed, Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

“Preparations are being completed,” the Kremlin spokesman replied to the question of how the preparations for the response were going. According to him, the decision will be announced in an "appropriate" way.

The price ceiling for Russian oil at $60 per barrel was introduced by the G7 countries ( usa , UK, Germany, France, CANADA, Italy and Japan), as well as Australia and the European Union, the restriction came into force on December 5. The goal is to reduce Russia's income and its ability to finance a military operation in Ukraine.

Siluanov warned about the consequences for the global market due to the price ceiling Politics

Peskov said that RUSSIA would not recognize any restrictions, called the decision of Western countries "a step towards destabilizing world energy markets" and announced the preparation of a response. Finance Minister Anton Siluanov also said that countermeasures would be presented in the near future.

BLOOMBERG, citing sources, reported that Moscow is considering introducing a fixed oil price or a maximum level of discount to international brands with which they can be sold. Vedomosti sources close to the government spoke of three responses: a complete ban on oil sales to countries that supported the restrictions; a ban on exports under contracts that include a price ceiling condition; determination of the maximum discount of Russian oil Urals to the benchmark grade Brent.

The Kremlin has repeatedly stated that Russia will not supply energy to countries that will introduce a price ceiling. Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said that Moscow would redirect supplies to "market-oriented partners" or cut production.
