Kazakhstan will not comply with sanctions against RUSSIA to the detriment of its production, but does not intend to become a country for bypassing restrictions, Zhumangarin emphasized. Moscow considers sanctions illegal Serik Zhumangarin

Kazakhstan has informed Western countries that it will not comply with sanctions to the detriment of its own production. This was stated by the country's Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin to TV presenter Pavel Zarubin.

"We are talking about the fact that there are certain goods that are produced here, and they fall into the sanctions line. And we said: we are not going to impose any restrictions on these goods, since we have large labor collectives behind this, sometimes entire single-industry towns where these productions are located, so this is very important," he explained.

At the same time, Kazakhstan does not intend to act as a country to circumvent sanctions restrictions, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.

Zhumangarin has previously said that Kazakhstan will not “blindly follow” anti-Russian sanctions, especially if they affect the interests of Kazakh companies. “We will not allow our producers to be banned from trading,” he said.

At the same time, Zhumangarin explained, Kazakhstan will still continue to comply with the main restrictions, since it “will not withstand” direct sanctions from the West.

Kazakhstan has not publicly joined international sanctions against Russia, but has tried to comply with most trade restrictions, BLOOMBERG noted . However, some Kazakh companies have been hit by Western sanctions. At least some of them have since been in the process of closing.

Russia considers the sanctions illegal and ineffective. Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a visit to Kazakhstan in late November, warned Astana against steps that could destroy relations between the countries.

During Putin's state visit to Kazakhstan, 20 bilateral agreements were expected to be signed. Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev called the country a reliable strategic partner of Russia.
