Iran refuses to enrich uranium to 60% despite US sanctions

The Iranian authorities are not going to exceed the level of uranium enrichment of 60%, even if the negotiations in Vienna do not lead to results, and Washington does not return to the JCPOA and lift sanctions from Tehran. Mohammad Eslami, vice-president of the Islamic Republic of Iran, head of the Atomic Energy Organization, told RIA Novosti about this.

“No,” Eslami replied to the related question.

According to him, all of Iran's goals in terms of uranium enrichment are to meet the country's industrial and production needs. “All our nuclear activities are carried out within the framework of agreements, charters and regulations of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA),” the head of the organization added.

The United States announced its readiness to negotiate a "nuclear deal" with Iran Politics

The US, France, UK, Germany, China , Russia and Iran signed the JCPOA in 2015. In it, the parties agreed not to impose sanctions against Tehran in exchange for its refusal to develop nuclear weapons. The JCPOA envisaged, in particular, the limitation of uranium enrichment and the access of inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to all nuclear facilities in the country.
