The State Department reported ties with China on the topic of sanctions against Russia

US authorities are in contact with the Chinese regarding anti-Russian sanctions and price ceilings onoil , said Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Geoffrey Pyatt.

“I would like to note that we are in very intensive cooperation with Chinese allies on all these issues around the price ceiling and the sanctions regime,” Payette said at a briefing at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit ( quoted by RIA Novosti). This is how a State Department representative answered a question about US work in the Asia-Pacific region related to sanctions against RUSSIA.

The G7 countries introduced a price ceiling for oil from Russia in December 2022. The limit was $60 per barrel. A similar measure applied to Russian petroleum products: the maximum price for diesel fuel was $100, for fuel oil - $45.

CHINA has repeatedly opposed unilateral sanctions, including against Russia. Beijing refused to join in introducing restrictions after Western countries imposed them on Moscow.

On September 22, 2023, Chinese Vice President Han Zheng said on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly that the international community should boycott unilateral sanctions that are causing serious harm to international relations.

On November 14, the US Treasury asked shipping companies from about 30 countries to provide data on almost 100 Russian tankers, which, according to American authorities, may be associated with a violation of the price ceiling imposed by Western countries on Russian oil.
