Finnish customs have detained 21 yachts believed to be owned by Russian businessmen under sanctions , Helsingin Sanomat reported.

If the customs office confirms that the yachts belong to the restricted persons, then the local authorities can move on to freezing the property.

Since the end of February, Western countries have introduced several packages of sanctions against RUSSIA. A number of Russian businessmen and heads of companies were also subject to restrictions. The European Union and the United States announced a freeze on their assets and banned these citizens from entering the country.

Businessmen Alexei Mordashov, Mikhail Fridman, Alisher Usmanov, Pyotr Aven, Gennady Timchenko, Rosneft HEAD Igor Sechin, Transneft head Nikolai Tokarev and Promsvyazbank head Pyotr Fradkov fell under EU sanctions at the end of February. On March 9, the EU expanded the sanctions list to include 14 more Russian entrepreneurs and heads of companies, in particular Dmitry Pumpyansky, Vadim Moshkovich, Dmitry Mazepin, Andrey Guryev and others.
