The European Union may adopt the 14th package of sanctions against RUSSIA in early June, Czech MEP Tomas Zdekhovsky told Izvestia.
According to him, the package will include targeted measures against specific sectors of the economy. EU member countries are already discussing possible restrictions, the parliamentarian noted.
Another member of the European Parliament from Croatia, Ivan Vilibor Sincic, in a conversation with the publication, did not rule out that the next package of sanctions could be adopted before the elections to the European Parliament, which will be held from June 6 to 9.
German lawmaker Gunnar Beck also told the newspaper that sanctions could be agreed upon in June “or perhaps even earlier.”
On February 23, the European Union introduced the 13th package of sanctions against Russia. The restrictions were extended to 106 individuals and 88 legal entities. The list of goods prohibited for EXPORT to Russia was expanded, and possible components for the development and assembly of drones were added to it. 27 organizations that the EU accused of supporting the Russian military-industrial complex (MIC) were subject to export restrictions. Some of them are located in India, Turkey, CHINA, Kazakhstan, Thailand, Serbia and Sri Lanka.
Two days earlier, on February 21, Euractiv reported, citing diplomatic sources, that the EU intends to begin work on the 14th package of anti-Russian sanctions in the coming weeks. EUObserver sources, in turn, claimed that discussions on the 14th package of sanctions are already underway.
