In Dagestan, three cases of anthrax were registered, after an epidemiological investigation, department specialists seized and destroyed 49 kg of infected meat. This is reported by the Republican Department of Rospotrebnadzor.

"Specialists of the department seized and disposed of 49 kg of meat by burning and disinfecting the place of burning itself," the ministry said in a statement.

Cases of anthrax were registered in the village of Novokuli, Novolaksky district of the republic, three victims were hospitalized, their condition is now assessed as satisfactory. Earlier, the regional Ministry of Health reported two victims, another one was then taken under observation.

Rospotrebnadzor found out that the source of infection was a bull from the victim's personal subsidiary plot. The animal was sent for slaughter without the necessary veterinary examination. The meat itself was sold privately, part of it was distributed among three neighboring families and taken to relatives in the city of Kaspiysk.

Doctors took control of the condition of the victims, and took preventive measures in the form of emergency prophylaxis with antibiotics.
