The results of US sanctions on Russia so far are "pretty close" to what the administration of US President Joe Biden had hoped for, Duleep Singh, Deputy Assistant to the President of the United States for National Security Affairs, told REUTERS in an interview.
“Our intention was to act proportionately and take a targeted approach, as well as signal that we have the opportunity to inflict even more damage if Russia continues its behavior or escalates,” he said.
According to Singh, "the results so far have been pretty close to what the US administration had hoped for."
“Sanctions are just a tool that can help advance the strategy, in this case, create leverage for the diplomatic process,” the official said. “In the case of Russia, the goal of this process is a more stable and predictable relationship,” he added.
