
The number of Belarusians who fell below the poverty line continues to grow. According to a sample survey of households in terms of living standards, in January-June, 6% of the population were poor, Belstat reports. For comparison: for the same period last year, this figure was 5.5% of the population, and in 2015 - 5%.
At the beginning of July, the population of Belarus was 9 million 495.5 thousand people. That is, almost 570 thousand people were below the national poverty line. Their per capita disposable resources were below the subsistence minimum budget - 186.1 rubles per month.
“Among the regions, the lowest level of poverty was noted in Minsk, the highest - in the Brest region,” the Belstat reports. In the capital, this figure is 1.7% (a year ago - 1.2% ), and in the Brest region - 8.5% (a year ago - 7.9% ).

Over the year, the number of the poor increased in all regions, with the exception of the Mogilev region, where this indicator remained at the same level - 7.6%.
