The legalization of parallel imports, which the Russian authorities can approve, is a necessary measure necessary to counter foreign sanctions, Artem Sokolov, president of the Association of Internet Trade Companies (AKIT), told RIA Novosti.

“This is a forced measure in response to the sanctions pressure that is now being exerted on the country – we are talking about a number of consumer goods that are not produced in Russia, about components and materials that are used in domestic production, in a number of industrial sectors, but also do not have domestic analogues," he said.

Parallel import is the importation of goods into the country without the appropriate permission of the brand owner.

Vedomosti learned about the bill to legalize parallel importsthat the department sent the relevant draft resolution to the government.

The head of ACIT explained that such measures, if they are introduced, will not apply to counterfeit products.
