The United States could lift sanctions on Iran when it is ready, US President Donald Trump said in Egypt before the start of a peace summit to mark the end of the war in the Gaza Strip.
"I would like to lift sanctions on Iran when they're ready. They really can't survive under these sanctions; they're too tough," Trump said.
Iran currently needs help due to sanctions, but the American leader believes everything will be fine with the country. He believes Tehran wants to reach a deal with Washington. Trump expressed a similar position in his speech to the Israeli Knesset before leaving for the summit, calling the country's possible decision to reach an agreement "the best" it has ever made.

Before leaving for the Middle East , Trump stated that if the US had not struck Iran in June, there would have been a "very dark cloud hanging over the Gaza peace deal." On the night of June 22, Washington joined the 12-day Iran-Israel War and attacked the Islamic Republic's nuclear facilities. The conflict ended a few days later.
Trump said that if Tehran had nuclear weapons, it would have jeopardized the Gaza agreement. According to the American leader, Iran could have acquired nuclear weapons within two months before the strikes. Furthermore, the attack helped push Hamas, which enjoys Tehran's support, toward a compromise.
Before the June events, the US and Iran were negotiating a nuclear deal. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated last weekend that the country would consider Washington's "reasonable, balanced, and fair proposal" for nuclear talks. However, Tehran has received no signals, despite ongoing exchanges of messages through intermediaries.
