The Ministry of Industry and Trade called Taiwan's ban on the supply of chips not tragic Technology and media
At the end of February last year, Taiwan joined the international sanctions against Russia after the start of a military operation in Ukraine. On February 25, TSMC, a large Taiwanese semiconductor company, announced that it had refused to supply chips to Russia.
In May, Taiwan's Ministry of Economy published a list of high-tech goods that were banned from EXPORT to Russia and Belarus. The list included 57 products, including telecommunications equipment, processors, memory chips, dual-purpose variable frequency drives for civil and military purposes, and equipment for the production of semiconductors.
The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade then said that Taiwan's ban on the supply of chips to Russia was not "something new or tragic", since it began to operate from the beginning of the special operation and simply was not formalized in a separate document.
