The United States has banned its companies from providing services to Russian oil production and petroleum products manufacturing companies in RUSSIA. This was reported by the press service of the US Treasury Department .

The ban will come into effect on February 27, the department noted.

As of that date, the US authorities prohibited “the EXPORT, re-export, sale, or supply, directly or indirectly, from the United States or by a United States person anywhere, of oilfield services to any person located in the Russian Federation.”

The US also imposed sanctions on a number of Russian oil companies, including Gazprom Neft and Surgutneftegaz, 183 tankers that are “part of Russia’s shadow fleet,” and insurance companies.

Moscow considers the sanctions illegal. The Kremlin noted that the outgoing administration of US President Joe Biden will try to leave President-elect Donald Trump "the most difficult legacy" in relations with Russia.
