The United States will impose sanctions against Turkey because of the export of weapons from Russia

The US will impose sanctions on four Turkish federal officials and one government agency associated with defense exports. This was reported by the US Federal Register.

Sanctions were imposed under the Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA) for ties to Russia's defense sector. The Turkish Defense Industry Directorate SSB (Savunma Sanayii Başkanlığı), whose tasks include, among other things, the supply of military products and technologies, fell under the restrictions.

In addition, four officials were blacklisted by the United States, including the HEAD of the SSB, Ismail Demir. The sanctions include a ban on entry into the United States, freezing assets on its territory, as well as bans on financial transactions with Americans for individuals, on exports from the United States and on loans of more than $10 million to SSB.

The restrictions will be officially published and will come into force on April 7.
