US eases sanctions against Cuba

The document says that the United States has expanded the provision of consular services to Cubans, re-launched the family reunification program. At the same time, ordinary private trips of Cubans to the United States will still remain banned. In addition, they increased the amount of money transfers to Cuba.

In early June, the administration of President Joe Biden lifted restrictions on flights to Cuba. In January 2020, the US suspended all charter flights to Cuba, with the exception of flights to Jose Marti International Airport in Havana. "Our policy will remain focused on empowering the Cuban people to help them create a future free of repression and economic suffering," the White House said in mid-May.

In 2015, under US President Barack Obama, there was a thaw in US-Cuban relations. Washington restored diplomatic relations with Havana. However, with the coming to power of Donald Trump, all agreements on the normalization of relations were canceled. Trump continued to strengthen the sanctions policy against Cuba.
