The US will "actively impose" sanctions on both RUSSIA and Iran for arms trafficking, US State Department deputy spokesman Vedant Patel said during a briefing, REUTERS reported.
“We remain incredibly concerned about Iran's use and proliferation of drones. They have been used to attack US forces, our partners in the region and international shipping companies,” Patel said.
The Deputy State Department spokesman also said that, according to his information, the Russian military was trained to work with drones in Iran "over the past few weeks."
Russia and Iran agreed on the supply of aircraft equipment and maintenance Politics
Iran's plans to provide Russia with several hundred drones were announced by US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan back in mid-July. Moscow has asked Tehran for weapon-capable drones to use in its military operation in Ukraine, according to Washington. In addition, Sullivan said that Iran is preparing not only to provide, but also to train Russian troops to use their drones as early as July.
In response, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said that during his working visit to Tehran on July 19, Vladimir Putin did not discuss deliveries of drones with Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. According to Ushakov, the heads of both states discussed "conceptual issues" - the situation in the world and bilateral relations.
