Siluanov said that the EU has exhausted the possibilities of "hurting" sanctions

The European Union has exhausted its possibilities of sanctions, which could hurt RUSSIA, said Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, speaking at the Knowledge marathon. The broadcast was in the Knowledge group on VKontakte.

“If you read today's press, the EU is already exhausted. As they say, “we no longer know what to do to hurt Russia,” the minister said.

He added that the world is in the first acute phase of the process of changing the world order. “We see how these [developed] countries are trying to gain a foothold, despite the fact that countries with emerging economies are pushing countries with the so-called developed economies,” Siluanov said. According to him, we must "think for the future, how the world political system will develop further." He assured that Russia is well aware of this and is doing "everything necessary in this regard."

In January, Siluanov said that the Russian economy could withstand new Western sanctions . Back in May 2022, he said that the first shock from Western sanctions for the Russian economy had passed.

Brussels has imposed ten packages of sanctions in response to the Russian military operation in Ukraine. The European Union has been talking about the limit of sanctions since the end of last year: then the Lithuanian European Commissioner Vinginijus Sinkevičius said that he did not see "areas where these sanctions should be supplemented with something new." The HEAD of the European Council, Charles Michel, agreed with him.
