Siemens announced the termination of deliveries to Russia and the suspension of all new business projects due to the situation around Ukraine and the sanctions imposed against the Russian state and business.
“We are categorically against the invasion of Ukraine and, together with the international community, call for peace. <…>. We fully support all sanctions. In this regard, all new business projects in Russia and international deliveries are suspended. This is how we assess the full implementation of the sanctions. We are sorry to all colleagues, their friends and families affected by this,” the company said in a Twitter statement.

The Financial Times, citing a source close to the company's management, reports that Siemens will continue to perform only "a small amount of service work" in Russia. The company, according to the interlocutor of the FT, is still assessing the consequences of the EU and US sanctions imposed against Russia .
Russia accounts for about 1% of all conglomerate sales, but this company has been present in the country since 1852. In the 19th century, it received more than 80% of the total income in Russia, mainly due to the laying and maintenance of telephone lines. The brother of the founder of the company, Werner von Siemens, Karl, took Russian citizenship in 1859 and settled in the country, FT notes.
