
The Swiss government has introduced new anti-Russian sanctions, following the European Union ( EU ). The restrictions target five individuals, four organizations, and 41 vessels. The new measures will take effect at 11:00 PM local time on January 13 (1:00 AM Moscow time on January 14), the government announced .
The sanctions targeted two companies from the UAE (Nova Shipmanagement LLC-FZ and Citrine Marine SPC), one from Vietnam (Hung Phat Maritime Trading), and one Russian company, SeverTransBunker Company Limited. Individuals included in the list include:Russian Valery Kildiyarov, Pakistani Murtaza Ali Lakhani, and three Azerbaijani citizens: Anar Madatli, Talat Safarov, and Etibar Eyyub.
These steps follow the EU's decision of December 15, 2025, which approved similar restrictions against 17 individuals and four legal entities. EU sanctions typically include travel bans and asset freezes for individuals, and asset freezes and a ban on all contact with European businesses for companies. Switzerland , not being an EU member, traditionally joins the main European sanctions packages.
