Sechin said about the illusion of a quick way out of the crisis thanks to vaccines

Expectations for a quick localization of the CORONAVIRUS pandemic and a quick exit from the crisis after the appearance of vaccines did not materialize. This was stated by the HEAD of Rosneft Igor Sechin during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2021), RBC correspondent reports.

According to him, the emergence of vaccines gave rise to hope for the creation of herd immunity, but the scale of the pandemic and the ability of the virus to mutate and the emergence of new strains were underestimated.

“This year, new “waves” of infections and strains have come to all continents. Moreover, the actual infection rates in a number of developing countries may be significantly higher than the statistics show us, due to differences in approaches to organizing testing and methods of statistical recording of diseases,” Sechin added.

Sechin announced plans to vaccinate almost all Rosneft employees Society

The head of the WHO Emergency Diseases Unit, Maria van Kerkhove, said on June 1 that four varieties of the coronavirus covid-19 are of greatest concern , which are spreading faster than others. Of these, she highlighted the strain of coronavirus from Vietnam.
