The decision to create an autonomous infrastructure for a "smart" home was announced at Sberbank against the background of problems with connecting new "smart" gadgets. They arose because

SberDevices will create an infrastructure independent of foreign services for its smart home platform, according to the Sber website.

This decision was announced in it amid problems with connecting new devices to the smart home platform - smart lamps, sockets, LED strips and relays (previously activated devices continue to work normally). Sber's "smart" gadgets used the Tuya cloud service, which blocked all of its new connections, SberDevices experts explained to Habr.

According to them, the developers chose Tuya, as it is the largest supplier of infrastructure solutions for smart home systems in the Russian market. They wanted to make the platform as flexible as possible, which is why a hybrid solution was created, at the same time the company began to develop its own, SberDevices added.

Sberbank officially announced the development of an autonomous solution on May 6. The infrastructure for the smart home platform will now be based on its own cloud, and gadgets will come out with new firmware: by the end of 2022, updated smart lamps will be on sale, and later sockets, relays and LED strips. Their management will not change: Salyut virtual assistants and the application of the same name will continue to be used for this.

“An important feature of the update will be the complete transition to SberCloud servers located in different regions of RUSSIA. This will make it possible to evenly distribute the load and avoid interruptions in the operation of the platform in the event of problems in one of the data centers, and will also make the functioning of the platform completely independent of foreign partners,” Sber added.

In a conversation with RBC, the company's press service noted that they recommended retailers to suspend sales of Sber smart home devices (smart lamps, sockets, relays and LED strips) until the problems are resolved. “They have already been partially resolved, the SberDevices team has restored the ability to connect smart LED strips. We are working to restore the full functionality of all devices as soon as possible, as soon as the problems are solved, they will again appear on sale,” the press service said.

It added that Sber devices with Salyut virtual assistants (SberBox, SberBox Top, SberBox Time, SberPortal, devices controlled by Salyut TV) running on the software developed by SberDevices and Sber's local infrastructure continue to function stably and are sold normally.

In late February and early March, the United States and Great Britain imposed sanctions against Sberbank. The US has placed the bank on the CAPTA list, which implies restrictions on correspondent accounts in the US. All American financial institutions have been ordered to close any correspondent accounts of Sberbank and start rejecting any transactions involving the bank or its subsidiaries. Sberbank then reported that all its systems and offices were operating normally.
