
Russia has imposed personal sanctions against 87 Canadians, according to the Foreign Ministry website. They are banned from entering the country.
The restrictions were a response to “anti-Russian sanctions periodically imposed by the ruling regime of Justin Trudeau in Canada, which have affected government officials at all levels, including regional ones, journalists, cultural figures and ordinary Russians who do not suit official Ottawa in any way,” the department explained.

“Taking into account that the Canadian sanctions list, apparently, will expand, new announcements on the “listing” of Canadian citizens will follow from the Russian side. We proceed from the principle of reciprocity,” the message says.

In total, since the beginning of hostilities in Ukraine, Moscow has introduced several packages of personal sanctions against Canadians, the last time on August 31. Trudeau came under restrictions in mid-March.
Dozens of Russian citizens, departments, banks and companies fell under Canadian sanctions. In mid-May, Ottawa banned entry to President Vladimir Putin, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
