Russia threatens Argentina to restrict meat imports over antibiotics

ROSSELKHOZNADZOR is concerned about the increasing cases of detection of antibiotics in livestock products from Argentina; if violations continue, the regulator may limit its supply. This was reported by the press service of the supervisory authority.

it is specified that in Paris a meeting was held between Deputy HEAD of Rosselkhoznadzor Konstantin Savenkov and DIRECTOR of the Department of Animal HEALTH of Argentina (SENASA) Ricardo Maresca. The meeting was held at the initiative of the Russian side. Argentina expressed its readiness to send the results of investigations into these violations in the near future and submit information to the Rosselkhoznadzor on the measures taken to control the amount of antibiotics in products, as well as to prevent the supply of substandard goods to RUSSIA.

The head of the Rosselkhoznadzor, Sergei Dankvert, spoke on May 17 about the discovery of an excess of pesticides and the presence of antibiotics in strawberries that come to Russia from CHINA . According to the agency, the berries were treated with antibacterial drugs for better product safety during transportation.
