Belarus' debt on state loans provided by RUSSIA amounted to $6.5 billion at the beginning of October. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to information materials for the participation of Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev in a meeting of the Intergovernmental Council of the EAEU.
“As of October 2, 2017, the amount of debt of the Republic of Belarus on state loans provided by the Russian Federation amounted to a total equivalent of 6.5 billion dollars. Belarus has no overdue obligations,” the materials say.
In addition, there are currently eight intergovernmental agreements on the provision of Russian state loans to Belarus: one EXPORT (for the construction of a nuclear power plant in Astravets) and seven financial ones, the total amount of loans provided under the aforementioned agreements is more than $15 billion.
The materials also provide data on the volume of supplies of Russian gas and oil to Belarus for 8 months. “ Russia is the main supplier of oil and gas to Belarus. In January-August 2017, 12.123 billion cubic meters of gas and 12.1 million tons of oil were supplied to the country,” the document says.
