Russia called London's sanctions an attempt to create competitive advantages

Great Britain , by introducing new sanctions against RUSSIA, is trying to create temporary competitive advantages for itself. This is stated in a statement by the Russian Embassy in London , RIA Novosti reports.

“At the cost of distorting normal international trade and economic relations, [London] is trying to create temporary competitive advantages for itself through such discriminatory measures,” the report says.

The diplomatic mission called the restrictions introduced “convulsive attempts” by London and Washington to prevent Russia and other more successful and dynamically developing entities of the world economy from getting ahead of themselves.

Such actions are no longer related to liberalism and the market economy, defended by the collective West, the department added.

On June 13, the UK introduced new sanctions against a number of Russian financial organizations and individuals, including the Moscow Exchange, the National Clearing Center (NCC) and the St. Petersburg Exchange.

The British authorities cite as the reason for imposing sanctions that these organizations were involved in obtaining benefits from the Russian government in strategically important areas of the economy.

The day before, Moscow Exchange, St. Petersburg Exchange and NCC came under US sanctions . After this, the Moscow Exchange stopped trading in dollars, as well as euros, since EU countries comply with these sanctions. In addition, trading in the Hong Kong DOLLAR was stopped because it is pegged to the US dollar.

The Kremlin, commenting on the restrictions against the Moscow Exchange, expressed confidence that the Central Bank is able to ensure stability in all markets. At the same time, the Russian side is developing response actions “that will best suit its interests,” said presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov .
