The Russian diplomat did not rule out a change in the Netherlands’ position on Ukraine

RUSSIA does not exclude changes in the Dutch policy on the issue of arms supplies to Ukraine due to the victory of Wilders’ far-right party. This was stated by the Russian Ambassador in The Hague Vladimir Tarabrin.

“It is still unclear how the results of the negotiations and the composition of the cabinet of ministers formed as a result of them will affect the kingdom’s course towards Ukraine. But perhaps some progress will happen,” said the diplomat ( quoted from RIA Novosti ). As the agency clarified, the discussion was about changing the Netherlands’ position on arms supplies to Ukraine after the election victory of the far-right party of Geert Wilders.

At the end of November, early parliamentary elections were held in the Netherlands. The victory was won by the Radical Right Freedom Party (PVV), led by Geert Wilders.

The party leader spoke out against anti-Russian sanctions and the transfer of F-16 fighter jets to Kyiv, which Prime Minister Mark Rutte promised to Ukraine. He decided to retire in the summer of 2023.

If Ukraine receives F-16 aircraft, Russian air defenses will destroy them in about “twenty days,” Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu believes. In addition to the Netherlands, Denmark and Belgium promised to transfer F-16 fighters to Kyiv.
