RUSSIA has concluded arms contracts worth more than $12 billion in 2023, said the General DIRECTOR of Rosoboronexport (part of Rostec) Alexander Mikheev at the international arms exhibition World Defense Show in Riyadh, TASS reports .
The state company's order portfolio reached a record $55 billion since its founding, he noted. According to Mikheev, in 2023, Rosoboronexport cooperated with 30 countries.
The general director noted that in 2022, some of the company’s customers were “confused” due to sanctions against Russia, but since then Rosoboronexport has adjusted “mechanisms of interaction” with partners.
Rosoboronexport is the only intermediary in Russia for the EXPORT and import of military and dual-use products and services. According to the website of the state-owned company, it cooperates with South American countries (Brazil, Argentina, Peru, etc.), African (Mali, Uganda, Angola, etc.) and Asian (Iran, CHINA , India, etc.), as well as with Belarus, Serbia, Mexico and Cuba.
In November, Mikheev reported that Russia had signed contracts worth more than $4.5 billion with African countries in a year.
In October, Rosoboronexport came under US sanctions for “the supply, sale or transfer, directly or indirectly, to or from Iran ... of weapons and related equipment, including spare parts.” The Iranian package of sanctions then also included the Russian Aerospace Forces, the command of military transport aviation, and the 924th State Center for Unmanned Aviation of the Ministry of Defense.
