The possible disconnection of Russia from SWIFT on December 16 was reported by BLOOMBERG, citing informed sources. The initiative belonged to the US administration, which tried to coordinate this measure with European partners in case Russia invades Ukraine.

The next day, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba announced that the EU was developing a package of economic sanctions against Russia in the event of its invasion of Ukraine. Including, according to Kuleba, we are talking about disconnecting Russia from the SWIFT system. However, this issue causes the greatest debate, the minister said.
